Water Tank Level
Water tank level monitoring, pump energy monitoring, and rain sensing from a weather station form a comprehensive system for efficient water management. This integrated approach combines real-time data from multiple sources to optimize water usage and energy consumption.
Water Tank Level

This project focuses on retrofitting an existing concrete water tank with modern IoT technology, integrating it into the ICTnexus Smart Island LoRa® Network for enhanced monitoring and management. The retrofit involves adding a LoRaWAN® level sensor to the tank and a LoRaWAN® power meter to the existing pump system.

How we Completed

ICTnexus evaluated the existing concrete tank and pump system to determine optimal sensor placement and installation requirements. A submersible level sensor was lowered into the tank. The cable was securely fastened to provide an appropriate depth. The sensor’s cable was connected to a LoRaWAN® transmitter. The result was verified by a manual measurement.

The Mission

The primary objectives of this retrofit project were:

  • To implement real-time monitoring of water levels in the existing concrete tank
  • To enable remote tracking of the pump’s energy consumption
  • To integrate the new sensors with the ICTnexus Smart Island Network for centralized data management and analysis
  • To improve water resource management and energy efficiency without significant infrastructure changes
Final Results

The project was successfully completed, yielding the following outcomes:

  • Accurate Water Level Monitoring: The submersible sensor provides precise, real-time water level data, enabling better management of water resources
  • Energy Consumption Insights: The LoRaWAN® power meter offers detailed information on the pump’s energy usage, allowing for optimisation of pump operations
  • Enhanced Data Visibility: Both water levels and energy consumption data are now accessible through the ICTnexus Smart Island Network dashboard, providing comprehensive system oversight
  • Improved Operational Efficiency: The real-time data allows for more responsive and efficient management of the water system, including timely pump activation and deactivation based on actual water levels
  • Remote Management Capabilities: Operators can now monitor and manage the system remotely, reducing the need for frequent on-site visits
  • Early Issue Detection: The system can now detect anomalies in water levels or energy consumption patterns, enabling proactive maintenance and reducing downtime
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Historical data collected through the ICTnexus platform facilitates informed decision-making for long-term system improvements and resource allocation
